HOW CAN RECYCLING POWER THE PARTY?
Q. Recycling one prosecco bottle saves enough energy to power a DJ set for...
- A. 20 minutes
- B. 30 minutes
- C. 60 minutes
Most people in Wales recycle over Christmas - in fact, Wales is one of the world’s best recycling nations. That’s amazing, and we’re celebrating by revealing the party secrets behind your Christmas waste. Whether you’re hitting the town or hosting a party; here are five ways your Christmas recyclables can help power your festive parties:
1. Getting Ready
Good tunes are an essential part of ANY pre-party preparations. Whilst you’re singing into the shower head, remember that 1 empty shampoo bottle could save enough energy to play 5 Super Furry Animals albums on your home stereo, back to back. Good thing most of you recycle your plastic toiletries.
2. At the house party
That house party is guaranteed to run out of loo roll before the end of the night. Did you know that the toilet roll tube could actually provide the disco magic? Recycling just 1 tube saves enough energy to keep the disco ball spinning for two whole hours.
3. At the Gig
Will dancing be your main form of exercise this Christmas? Just don’t forget to stay fresh on and off the dance floor. Recycling one can of deodorant could power a guitar amp for 9 gigs! With most Welsh residents recycling aerosol cans, we can keep the party going until next Christmas!
4. The recovery
Curling up on the sofa with an amazing line up of Christmas classics and plenty of refreshments is the ultimate late night recovery cure. Don’t feel guilty for your duvet time... just one empty can recycled from the night before could power the TV long enough to watch Home Alone, Love Actually, and even some of The Grinch.
5. The big clean-up
The party is over and everyone is asleep, yet the empty cleaning products are full of energy. 77% of you recycle plastic cleaning bottles in Wales. Here’s a fact for you - if 77% of Wales’ population recycled one bleach bottle, the energy saved would be enough to power a set of spinning disco lights constantly for a whopping 1,367 years. Enough to keep the party alive until year 3384… Hands up if you think you could keep going for that long!
